Just to be sure everything works, I did remove my site and added it back successfully on the iOS app now. Everything works indeed as expected. I am sure it likely is a username and password issue. Please your site Userid and password for setting up the self hosted site on the iOS app. If you have your site on WordPress.com please use your WordPress.com userid and password to login. You don't need to use your WordPress.org credentials anywhere on the iOS app.
