Hi Don,
If you're using the flash version, that would not show on mobile devices. So you'll just want to make sure that you have the 'Enable flash slideshow' deselected under Gallery >> Options >> Slideshow, see: http://screencast.com/t/hmvSnvqsdLnJ
If that still does not fix the mobile display of slideshows, it's likely a third-party plugin that is interfering. To test this, deactivate all plugins (including NextGEN Gallery) and then reactivate NextGEN Gallery only > clear your browser cache and reload your site and see if that helps. :)
